Flood Alert issued on 9 Feb 2021 15:04
Ea Beck, River Skell
Although river levels in the Ea Beck catchment have fallen following recent heavy rainfall, this alert remains in force as we have identified a small amount of water seeping through an embankment on the River Skell. Our engineering assessment of the bank suggests there is no imminent risk from this seepage. As a proactive and precautionary measure, we have installed a temporary barrier to minimise any flood risk. Further wintry showers are forecast over the next few days, but we do not expect these to cause a significant river response. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and will update this message in 8 hours or as the situation changes.

Ea Beck, River Skell
River levels remain elevated as a result of heavy rain associated with Storm Darcy yesterday, 06/02/21. The heaviest rain has now passed and though further wintery showers are forecast today, 07/02/21, we do not expect this to cause a significant response. Levels have peaked however remain high in the lower catchment, therefore the risk of flooding of low-lying roads and farmland in the area remains throughout today, 07/02/2021. We continue to closely monitor the forecast. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated by 19:15 07/02/21, or as the situation changes.

Ea Beck, River Skell
River levels have risen as a result of persistent and heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is possible this evening and tomorrow, 07/02/2021. Areas most at risk are low lying land and roads. Further rainfall is forecast this evening but should start to peter out overnight. We expect river levels to rise into Sunday morning. We do not expect levels to be as high as those seen during Storm Christoph, two weeks ago. Ea Beck is spilling into washland area at Norwood, as designed, and is likely to affect Forstead Lane. Our incident response staff are checking defences and closely monitoring the forecast. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
This message will be updated in 8 hours, or as the situation changes.
Flood Alert issued on 23 Nov 2019 05:56
Ea Beck, River Skell
This flood alert remains in force as flood water continues to affect roads and large areas of low-lying land. Further rain is forecast through today, Saturday 23rd November, which will cause rivers to slowly rise through the day. Less rain is now expected than forecast yesterday, therefore we do not expect to see any significant flooding impacts from this rain. With further unsettled weather early next week, and a period of high tides, river levels are likely to remain elevated going into next week. We are continuing our pumping operations in order to increase capacity in washland areas. Please avoid contact with floodwater, stay away from embankments holding back floodwater and plan journeys to avoid low-lying roads. To report any flood impacts call 0800 80 70 60. This message will be updated by 14:00, Saturday 23/11/2019 or as the situation changes.
